Description
Fantastic 19th century Folk Art Sampler. Nicely stitched with strong colors and interesting scenes. She included 3 delightful vignettes at bottom~~each very detailed with trees, greenery and background. The top has typical ABC's and numbers. The initials in the center TA is probably her own. Nicely executed!
Lots of turkey red~~also used as the border color.
The whole frame measures 17" x 13.75". Professionally framed in the early 1900s. Original framer's label on the back. Wood frame condition is very good.
The sampler is showing normal wear, foxing and yellowing. There is some embroidery thread loss in places and a few holes in the fabric. Please see the photos. No odors. No mildew.
This is guaranteed to be an authentic mid-1800s handmade sampler. Purchased privately from a local estate. She was a long time area historian and avid folk art collector. Can't wait to see what else she wants to part with!
